NEW AREA BAGI PERUMUSAN STANDAR NASIONAL INDONESIA

Abstract

Many international standard developer such as ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and IEC
(International Electric and Electrical Committee) inovatively has enter new areas of standardization. Indonesia
need to know the priorities of standard development of Indonesia compare to the international standard. This
paper deals with the result of study in new areas of standardization. The purpose of this study is to know about
what new areas that has to be anticipated on national standard development in order to facilitate industries and
trades and also new areas that need to be developed in national standard activities. Determination of new areas
is done by two steps of analysis. The first analysis is gap analysis, measures the gap of quantity of ISO standard
and IEC standard with SNI. An area was determined as new area if the gap of quantity of ISO/IEC standard with
SNI is very high, or there is no SNI. The second analysis is the choosen of new areas, the analysis based on the
growth of standard, international issues and te establisment of the TC of area concerned.
